kenu.
A retrieval-augmented generation assistant that lets you ask questions about documents in plain language and get answers grounded in the source. Available as a public tool for Vanuatu law — and as a customised solution for any organisation with its own document collection.

Kenu for Vanuatu Law
The flagship version of Kenu indexes Vanuatu's legal and parliamentary record — Acts, Bills, court decisions, Standing Orders, the Constitution — and makes it searchable through conversation.
Ask a question in plain language and receive an answer drawn from the indexed documents, with the source kept close at hand. In one early query, Kenu was asked whether someone can eat a coconut crab — it pointed directly to the Coconut Crabs (Protection) Act 1981.
Not a replacement for legal advice, but a better way to discover the relevant documents and understand where an answer is coming from.

Kenu for Your Organisation
Organisations, institutions, government departments, and ministries can request their own private Kenu — configured around their own document collection, not the public legal corpus.
Upload your internal policies, manuals, reports, regulations, or any document collection. Your staff can then query it in plain language and get answers sourced directly from your documents.
Each custom Kenu is private to your organisation — your documents and queries stay within your own environment.
Examples of use
How it works
The same engine, any document collection.
Grounded answers
Every response is tied to a source document. You always know where the answer comes from.
Plain language
No special syntax or terminology required. Ask the way you would ask a colleague.
Your own documents
Upload PDFs, Word files, or other documents. Kenu indexes them and makes them queryable.
Private by design
Custom deployments are isolated to your organisation. Your data does not mix with the public corpus.
Who it's for
Public use or private deployment — Kenu adapts.
Government ministries
Departments & agencies
Universities & schools
Private organisations
Researchers & lawyers
Journalists
Public servants
